As part of Off The Shelf’s Festival of Words 2014, Word Life created a new digital project that involved both digital and participatory elements.

We hosted events in prominent local locations in Sheffield – The Winter Gardens, The Showroom Cinema, Sheffield University and The Moor. At each location we ran popup poetry activity which included on the spot performances, workshops, the showing of poetry films and a live Twitter feed which documented the activity and drove further online interaction.

It was designed to reach new audiences who might not have had previous knowledge of Off The Shelf Festival of Words. This project was extremely successful, reaching hundreds of participants in each location who were new to poetry and thousands more online who participated in Twitter writing activities.
