Sound and Visual Artist Wanted for Poetry Light Night

IMG_3568 (2)

Word Life has an exciting commission opportunity for a sound and visual artist. We are looking for two artists to create a short film each based on one of two original poems that will be projected onto a central building in Sheffield.

We are working alongside Off The Shelf Festival of Words and Ruskin in Sheffield to create two original film poems that are loosely themed by the writings of the prominent social thinker and philanthropist John Ruskin. Two poets have already been commissioned to write an original poem based on these themes. The two successful sound and visual artists will then be sent an audio recording of these poems and be expected to create an approximately two and a half minute film as a companion piece to the poem. This film will then be projected onto the frontage of the Upper Chapel building on the evening of the 16th October as part of Off The Shelf Festival of Words in Sheffield. This is a collaborative project and artists will be expected to work interactively with the poet, producer and projectionist.

There is a £600 fee available for each commission. Commissioned artists will receive the audio recording of the poem on the 9th September. The deadline for the film will be the 2nd October.
