This week, the fabulous Grounded Coffee celebrates its first full year of existence. Located on the edge of the lanes at Meadowhall, this proudly independent company was founded by Chris Shaw and Anthony March, who both have very high standards and a shared passion for coffee. Chris worked at the charity-run SMaRT venue on London Road for four years, but Grounded Coffee is a new challenge for both of the boys.
Grounded offers over 60 flavoured whole bean coffee varieties, as well as gourmet and speciality beans, a wide range of loose teas from across the globe and all the hardware you need to brew the perfect cuppa. They are also fully committed to sustainability in retail. The only plastic you’ll find on site is the lids to hot drinks, and they’re working on finding a way around that. A year in, Grounded employs six local people, two of whom are former volunteers of First Step Trust, and the business is going from strength to strength.
Next time you find yourself at our very own temple of chain stores, seek out something unique and individual. Grounded is independent trade done properly, and if you like coffee it could prove to be your own personal Mecca.
